The Jessie Allen Wise Garden Club presents the 70th Annual Jefferson Pilgrimage and Historic Homes Tour. Celebrate the beauty of spring and take a trip back to the 1860s as Jefferson’s annual Pilgrimage starts with the infamous Diamond Bessie Murder Trial. Don’t miss the Historic Home Tours Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6, 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. and many additional Pilgrimage activities including the Pilgrimage Parade and town skirmish!  Be sure to try at least one of four garden strolls, enjoy the salad buffet luncheon at the Excelsior House Hotel, and tour Jay Gould’s private rail car, the Atalanta.

Rooms at the Excelsior House are always sold out during Pilgrimage Weekend. But you can still enjoy the Excelsior’s elegant ballroom, beautiful courtyard and the delicious, homemade Luncheon Buffet and Desserts provided and served by Jessie Allen Wise Garden Club members.  Early ticket purchasing is strongly recommended.

Tour Jay Gould’s Private Rail Car

See and experience luxury from days past while touring the private rail car of notorious railway baron Jay Gould of New York, and hear the history of how this beautifully appointed relic came to rest in Jefferson, Texas as its final destination. Beautifully preserved by the Jessie Allen Wise Garden Club since acquiring it in 1954, the tour of the Atalanta takes approximately 20 minutes. Directly across from the Pilgrimage Headquarters at the Excelsior House Hotel at 211 W Austin St, Jefferson, TX 75657.
