Step back in history as you enter the Hotel’s door and you are immediately taken back to an earlier time in Jefferson, Texas. Continuing into the Hotel, you will be welcomed by our front desk staff and historic hotel lobby. Explore the many antiques on display, the grand ballroom and the New Orleans Style courtyard. The historic Excelsior House Hotel was built by riverboat captain William Perry. The Hotel is currently owned and operated by the The Excelsior Foundation and the Jessie Allen Wise Garden Club. Purchased by the club in 1961, volunteers spent thousands of hours restoring the hotel to its former place as a focal point for southern hospitality and social functions.
